Sales: Brooks Brothers & J.PRESS

autumn trees2

I don’t usually announce sales on my site for a few reasons. The first reason is that I don’t write frequently enough to keep up with them. Two, most people that visit my site are already aware of them. Three, which is probably the most important is that I would be worried that the items that I have had my eyes on may disappear. However, I made my purchase last night and I am too broke to make another. So, with that being said if you are in the market for a new piece of clothing (or two) this weekend may be the perfect opportunity for you to indulge as both Brooks Brothers and J.PRESS are running really good sales.

Brooks Brothers Sheep logoBrooks Brothers is having their Friends & Families sale which happens twice a year. The event will run September 21st Р24th. You can use the code FNFBB1 online to save 25% off anything on the site. This is actually where I made my purchase last night. I set my alarm for midnight l so that I could wake up, purchase the Heathered Oatmeal Shetland that I mentioned earlier (Shetland Season Returns), and return back to bed confidently knowing that the sweater is mine. Last year I missed out on the Pebble colored Shetland and have been haunted by it since. I was not going to let that happen this year. I suggest that you use this sale to purchase anything that you think you may regret not buying.

J.Press Bull DogJ.PRESS is running a sale from September 21st Р23rd. This sale is online only and unfortunately is not site wide. To make matters worse (for me) there are no deals on Shaggy Dogs to be had (trust me, I looked). There are however some great deals in their sales section (50-70% off).  I saw some suits in the mid-$200 range and sport coats for the same (even a few sub-$200). To my disappointment there were none in my size, but I hope that you gentlemen out there have better luck as a suit or sport coat at this price is quite a steal.

Beautiful photo…is that what it looks like today where you are? If so, I’d venture to guess that you’re rather far north of me. Here in central Virginia (Richmond area) it’s really still summer. I envy you.

The Oatmeal Shetland from BB also caught my attention. But it is still a bit pricey @ $96 for an “Imported” Shetland. Do you happen to know how it compares with the Shetlands (saddle shoulder) from O’connell’s? I may wait for a further reduction in price towards the end of season sales. Thanks.

@Steve E – It doesn’t look like that here in Ohio yet. I am just getting in the Fall mood, but Summer is definitely over and we have already seen temps in the 40’s.

@Hilton – I don’t know how they compare. I have yet to take the plunge and purchase one from O’Connell’s, but I have heard good things. However, with the price tag of $165 I would hope that it is wonderful.

I agree that $96 is a bit pricey. I purchased a Clipper blue Shetland from BB last season and really liked it. The Oatmeal is the only color that I really really wanted. I didn’t want to miss out so I pulled the trigger.

One last thought is RL Rugby, They have a brushed Shetland that is now on sale for $78 with free shipping. It does lack saddle shoulders, but they do have some nice colors. I am not very experienced with the brand, but it seems to run pretty small. You may want to size up.

Good luck with your sweater hunt!

@OCBD: So where in Ohio are you located? I was in Middletown (just north of Cincinnati) for two years (job related). Even there, in far southwest Ohio, it was much colder than Virginia. Must be the Great Lakes influence. In Va. we are shielded from the Lakes by the Appalachians, whereas you in the midwest are not.

I would like to hear from you
