Full Confidence

Although I do not know what 2017 will bring I am excited for it and as you can infer from the title of this post I am feeling confident. I am confident that 2017 will be filled with OCBDs, Shetland sweaters, plain front khakis, and 3/2 sack blazers.

In a niche where the sky is always falling and things are never as good as they used to be it is nice when you get a bit of encouraging news. I was doing some post-Christmas shopping for myself and noticed that O’Connell’s has a full-size run of 3/2 sack blazers (see here). While this may not fill others with the sense of hope that it gave let me tell you that seeing so many sizes in such a trad cut is not common. It is not common at all. It is a sign. 2017 is going to be a good year. Happy New Year!

    Jerrod,
Back at you with best wishes for a Happy New Year and most productive 2017.
As a 39S/R, I too share your optimism re. the sign this sends from O’Connell’s. I’ve found myself having to go the MTM route to get precisely fitting sport coats/suit jackets. I have also found at 5’9″ that many regular jackets are a bit long in the body (and, of course, sleeves) and therefore I typically explore both short and regular length jackets when both options are available. Again, as a 39 jacket size, I’m lucky if most shops even carry this size–let alone provide options in jacket length. Again, all best wishes for a productive year in general, and (somewhat selfishly) with the website in particular.

Happy New Years from Canada. I’ve enjoyed your blog for a while now. As a fellow slimly proportioned individual, I really appreciate your perspective on all things trad. Over the past couple years I’ve acquired a lot of the fundamentals of a basic trad wardrobe (chinos, ocbds, Shetlands, blucher mocs) but finding a tweed 3/2 sport coat in a 36s has proved exceedingly difficult. Perhaps this will be my year. Keep up the good work!

As a Buffalonian and avid O’Connell’s shopper, I’m happy to see a picture of Buffalo’s annual New Years ball drop as your cover image for this post. Come spend a New Years with us, it’s good fun, and you can get to OCs too.

I would like to hear from you
